This image was part of a set that I worked hard to photograph. I recall waking up at about 3:30AM, arriving at the foot of the canyons around 4AM and hiking in pitch-dark to get to the spot (forgot to carry a flashlight!). I had taken this image when my eyes could barely see over the horizon. This is the effect of accumulating light over 30 or more seconds! The best part of hiking back at about 7AM (besides being able to see where we were going) was that we saw other photographers hiking up to the spot where we stood a few minutes ago. By then, the light level was too bringht to capture the suble colors and snow. The early bird indeed got the worm!"/>

In our hurry to visit the Grand Canyon, the Arches National Park or Zion, we often forget to slow down and stop to seee what we are missing. Red Rock Canyon is certainly one such magnificent palce. The landscape here is unlike any other. In facat, in some places, looks so unearthly, it looks like the photos we see of Mars!"/>
